In Year Admissions 2022-23
For admission during and from 2022/2023, as per the Local Authority Co-ordinated Scheme for Admissions, all applicants applying for any school place in Years 7-11 must complete an application form, which should be returned directly to the Local Authority and not the school. The school will follow the agreed Fair Access Protocol for hard-to-place children.Wiltshire Council can be contacted as follows:

Admissions Criteria
Our priority admission area is in Durrington and the following villages:
Ablington | Longstreet House | Fittleton | Coombe |
Enford | Brigmertson | Netheravon | Larkhill |
Longstreet | Figheldean | Compton | West Chisenbury |
Alton | Milston | Haxton | East Chisenbury |
Fifield | Bulford Camp | New Town Bulford | Littlecott |
Looked after children for whom the school is deemed to be appropriate will take top priority.
In the event of oversubscription admissions from within the priority admission area will be considered first and determined using the following criteria:
- Children with a brother or sister (sibling) attending the school at the time of application with a reasonable expectation they will be attending at the time of the start of the new academic year. This includes step, foster or half and only applies to siblings who are resident at the same address.
- Children residing in the priority admission area defined above and according to our map. If you need clarification of the exact boundaries, please contact the school.
- Proximity of the child’s home to Avon Valley Academy using a straight line distance from the main entrance of Avon Valley Academy to the main door of the residence, with those living closest to the school being given priority. Proof of residence will be required. Where two adults have shared responsibility for their child they should submit a common application for their preferred school/s. The address on the child benefit notification will be taken as evidence of residency. The offer of a place may be withdrawn if proof of residency is not met.
Applications from outside the priority admissions area described above will be determined by the following criteria:
- Children with a brother or sister (sibling) attending the school at the time of application with a reasonable expectation they will be attending at the time of the start of the new academic year. This includes step, foster or half and only applies to siblings who are resident at the same address.
- Children residing outside the priority admission area.
- Proximity of the child’s home to Avon Valley Academy using a straight line distance from the main entrance of the Academy to the main door of the residence, with those living closest to the school being given priority.
