Ofsted

In June 2024 Avon Valley received a monitoring visit from Ofsted which was very positive.

The purpose of a monitoring inspection is not to grade the school’s overall effectiveness, but to identify and report on AVA’s progress. It is to highlight to the school and parents any improvements that AVA leaders have made since the school’s previous graded inspection. The report acknowledges the steps that AVA have taken to improve the school including the improvements to the quality of education. Ofsted identified that the curriculum is now well sequenced in most subjects which enables pupils to build on what they already know. Ofsted also identified how AVA will rectify the areas of weakness found in the previous inspection including prioritising improving behaviour and attendance as critical to the development of the positive school culture.

Previous to the monitoring visit, in February 2023, AVA were inspected by Ofsted and were graded as a 'Requires Improvement' school.

Following the inspection, we began a rapid improvement journey and invested in the quality of teaching and learning with a relentless focus towards raising standards. As a new member of Acorn Education Trust we are confident that our school will continue to positively progress ahead of our next inspection.
